The plant

Capability

One plant in Canton does the melt, the spin, the heat treatment, the grinding, and the metallurgical check. The roll does not change hands between companies to get finished.

01

Melt and spin cast

Iron, high chrome iron, and high-speed steel are melted and horizontally spun in Canton. The shell is the part the mill wears.

02

Heat treat

Rolls leave the mold still doing thermal work. Synergy 100 is differential heat treated so hardness stays uniform through the shell.

03

Machine and grind

CNC grinding and dynamic balancing bring the body, necks, and balance to the drawing before the roll is released.

What else the plant does

Melting and casting

Horizontally spun cast iron, high chrome iron, and high-speed steel, poured in Canton.

Heat treatment

Including the differential heat treatment used on Synergy 100 to hold hardness through the shell.

Machining and grinding

CNC grinding, dynamic balancing, and custom machining before a roll ships.

Metallurgical testing

In-house testing, plus nondestructive testing and failure analysis when a roll comes back.

Application engineering

Grade and stand selection against the mill, the product, and the campaign length you need.

Reconditioning

Iron and steel rolls reconditioned so a mill is not waiting on a new body.
